Russian in Almaty picketed in support of Ukraine. He was detained
Almaty police detained a Russian citizen who went on a solo picket in support of Ukraine, Radio Azattyk reports .
Timofey Morozov came out to the Republic Square in Almaty this afternoon. He held a banner in his hands that read: " Ukraine will win. Russia will be free ." Timofey demanded a fair peace for Ukraine.
The man said that he came to Kazakhstan in 2024. And he assumed that there could be persecution for this action. Later, police officers approached Timofey and asked him to stop the picket. A few minutes later, the man was detained.
Today, February 24, is the third anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was ready to step down as head of state if that was necessary for the sake of peace in the country.
