Books in Kazakh language have become more accessible

The Yandex Books service has launched a showcase with content from Kazakhstani publishers. More than 1,300 books — from classics and popular science literature to modern bestsellers and folk tales — are now available to Kazakhstanis.

The goal of the launch is to popularize Kazakhstani literature and attract audiences to the work of local publishers. The service already offers a wide selection of literature from KitapAl, Foliant, Otbasy khrestomatiyasy, Zerde Publishing and Atyrau tolkyndary. The content is available to 1.3 million Yandex Plus subscribers in Kazakhstan.

"Books, like music, cinema and other industries at the intersection of culture and business, are becoming increasingly digital. And people want to be able to listen to or read books in electronic form in any situation convenient for them. We are very pleased that we can now offer our subscribers not only the best technologies, but also a wide selection of modern Kazakhstani authors, classics, folk tales, translations of international bestsellers into Kazakh – from the best publishing houses of the country. This will make Kazakhstani authors more popular, increase interest in literature among the younger generation. In Yandex Books, Kazakhstanis will find literature aimed at the whole family – classics, books on self-development, history and culture, which are especially valued by Kazakhstanis, as well as Kazakh folk tales for children.

Among the works are the already beloved by readers " Kara sozder" by Abay Kunanbayev , " Enlik-Kebek" by Shakarim Kudayberdiuly , "Oyan, Kazakh! Bakytsyz Zhamal " by Mirzhakyp Dulatov , as well as new ones – " Ne ushin uylenu kerek ", "Beysen zhane bolmys" , "1916. Wolf's cat" , "Data S" , "Otloika" and others. Those who prefer the audio format should also pay attention to the books from the project to popularize the Kazakh language , within the framework of which classical and modern prose was voiced.
