Teenager attacks five-year-old boy with knife in elevator in Astana
A teenager registered at a mental health clinic attacked a five-year-old boy with a knife in the elevator of a residential complex in Astana. A video from the scene of the incident was published in the capital's Telegram channel Astanovka98. The press service of the capital's police department responded to the information.
Footage: A minor and a five-year-old child are in an elevator together. The teenager approaches the child, holding an unknown object in his right hand that looks like a knife. He stabs the child in the face at least five times. The little boy grabs his face, and the teenager quickly leaves the elevator.
Astanovka98 reports that the suspect has been identified and detained by police officers.
"During the investigation of the incident, a minor was identified who was registered at a mental health clinic. His legal representatives were summoned to the police; they will be held strictly accountable for improper performance of their parenting duties, in accordance with the law. The injured child was hospitalized," the press service of the Astana Police Department reported.
A criminal case has been opened. It is noted that the attacking teenager will be isolated in accordance with the established procedure immediately after the necessary investigative actions have been carried out.
About the condition of the injured child
According to the capital's health department, the victim of the attack in the elevator was a five-year-old boy, he received cut wounds to his face, he has already undergone surgery, he is in serious condition, while doctors say that there is no threat to his life.
"A five-year-old child, who received multiple cut wounds to the soft tissues of the face as a result of an attack in one of the capital's residential complexes, was hospitalized in the maxillofacial surgery department of the Multidisciplinary Children's City Hospital No. 2. The child was examined, operated on, and surgeons ligated the vessels to stop the bleeding. The child's general condition is assessed by doctors as serious, due to the stab wounds he received. The child's postoperative condition is stable," the department reported.
It is noted that the boy is receiving all necessary medical care.
