Deputy Prime Minister orders not to resume work in the mine until investigation is completed
Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev held a meeting with the management of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, the website primeminister.kz reports .
Firstly, the company will help the families of the deceased with money and also pay off their loan debts.
“You must pay close attention to the needs of families and cover the costs of educating children, including minors,” Bozumbayev said, and instructed not to delay payments.
Secondly, following the investigations, contractual obligations at Kazakhmys will be reviewed.
" Until the investigation shows whether it is dangerous or not, do not even think about resuming work in the mine. The system and approaches need to be changed radically, and we, on the part of the state, will tighten it. The Industrial Safety Committee has been created, we are changing the legislation. The Parliament is currently considering a corresponding bill, within the framework of this bill, additional powers will be given to the Ministry of Emergency Situations," Bozumbayev said.
He added that the company's management must make every effort to prevent such accidents.
"The President has ordered an investigation. Your task is to determine who allowed this emergency to happen," Bozumbayev said, addressing the company's management.

In 10 days, the cause of the tragedy at the Kazakhmys mine will be named. Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev also reported this.
"Two special subcommittees have been created. One must find out the cause of the accident, and the second must find out what safety violations there were. The subcommittees must complete their work within 10 days," the deputy prime minister said.
According to preliminary data, a natural gas explosion occurred underground.
On February 17, a rock mass collapsed in a mine shaft at the Zhomart mine, which belongs to the Kazakhmys group of companies. As a result, seven workers were trapped in the collapse zone. They all died.
A criminal case was opened on the fact of the emergency under Article 277, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan – "Violation of safety rules during mining or construction work." President Tokayev ordered a thorough investigation into the causes of the tragedy.
