Ust-Kamenogorsk May Hold March Against Single Time Zone
The Akimat of Ust-Kamenogorsk has approved a march against the transition to a single time. This is reported by Vlast with reference to activist Leonid Kartashov. The activists sought approval through the court. Now they are also continuing to demand permission for a solitary picket and rally.
“Your request regarding the decision made to approve holding a peaceful assembly in the form of a march on March 14, 2025 from 18:05 to 19:30 has been taken into account,” says the response of Ust-Kamenogorsk Deputy Akim Irina Smith to the request of public figure Kartashov.
Previously, the Akimat refused to allow activists to hold peaceful meetings to express their disagreement with the time change. The reason for the refusal was that specialized places were occupied on the days when activists planned meetings.
Let us recall that a single time zone was introduced in Kazakhstan on March 1, 2024. However, many residents did not like this initiative.
