A march dedicated to the protection of women's rights took place in Bishkek on March 8. About 500 people took part in it. The procession began at 12:00 from the former building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Old Square and ended in Gorky Park. This was reported by 24. KG.

The protesters sang the feminist anthem and carried posters with the slogans: “Women continue to be killed,” “We are individuals, not just bodies,” “Abortion is a personal decision, not a subject of legal disputes,” “No rights – no progress,” “We need security, not flowers,” “Girl supports girl,” “Live, my woman, live,” “No to violence against women.”

The speech was given by the mother of Aizhan Alykulova, a girl brutally murdered by her common-law husband in February 2024. She emphasized the importance of such actions in connection with the increase in violence against women and the injustice of court decisions in such cases.

The event lasted about an hour and ended with the performance of the anthem of the Kyrgyz Republic. Security at the march was provided by more than 100 police officers.

This march was the only such action in Central Asia.

In Kazakhstan, the last women's march took place in 2021.
