On March 17, the 112 Emergency Situations Department of Almaty received a message from the dispatcher of the Shymbulak ski resort about an avalanche in the area of Komsomol Peak, located one kilometer from the resort. According to updated information, this happened on the Left Talgar Pass in the area of Lake Nunatak (Talgar District). Three skiers were skiing in a prohibited area. This is reported by Kazinform.

"Three freeriders cut a slope while skiing, causing a snow slide. As a result, all three ended up under the rubble. Two of the victims were able to get out on their own, and the third person, who showed no signs of life, was pulled out from under the snow by Shymbulak rescuers. The identities of the victims are being established," the press service of the Department of Emergency Situations in Almaty reported.

Later, the Department of Emergency Situations clarified that on March 17, in the area of Left Talgar, at an altitude of 3,160 meters, an avalanche with a volume of about 50 cubic meters occurred.

"The body of a woman, a Russian citizen born in 1990, was pulled out from under the rubble. She was transported to the Kombi-2 station for evacuation," the Department of Emergency Situations added.

Rescuers remind that there is still a high avalanche danger in the mountains. Tourists and active recreation enthusiasts are asked to observe safety measures and check information about the avalanche situation in advance.
