The First Deputy Chief Military Prosecutor Maksat Kaziyev spoke about the progress of the investigation into the case of conscript soldier Erbayan Mukhtar, who suffered a severe brain injury in a National Guard military unit.

"A range of operational and investigative measures are currently being carried out, and expert examinations have been ordered. A decision will be made upon receipt of the expert examination report and the results of the investigation, the totality of all the evidence and factual data collected. We cannot comment on the results of the investigation today in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, because this affects the interests of many people. The investigation is being conducted under the special control of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Chief Military Prosecutor. The National Guard is in contact with the parents," Kaziyev said at a briefing by the Central Communications Service.

According to him, there are no specific suspects in the case, but there is a certain “circle of people” whose involvement is being investigated.

Conscript soldier Erbayan Mukhtar was admitted to the hospital in December 2023.

The National Guard unit where the young man served told his parents that he had fallen in the toilet and hit his head on the tiles. At the same time, the National Guard denied that the soldier could have been beaten.

It is known that a criminal case has been opened under the article "Violation of statutory rules of relations between military personnel, causing serious harm to health." The National Guard assured that the course of the investigation is under the control of the leadership of the military investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On September 27, it was reported that Erbayan Mukhtar was sent to Istanbul for treatment. In early October, the soldier's mother said that his condition was stable and he was undergoing therapy.
