In Kazakhstan, temporary residence organizations will be established for people without a fixed abode and those released from prison. They will be created in cities with a population of over 100 thousand people. This was reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

“In villages, districts, and rural districts with a population of 50,000 or more people, the creation of a temporary stay organization at one district level is permitted by decision of local executive bodies,” the document states.

What else is known

In Kazakhstan, by the end of 2024, special social services are provided by 502 state organizations and 122 NGOs, a total of 1,023 facilities, including branches.

These include centres providing special social services, day care centres, rehabilitation centres and home social assistance departments, temporary accommodation centres and crisis centres.

Since January 1, 2025, a register of specialists providing ASA (Targeted Social Assistance) and SSS (Special Social Services) has been introduced in Kazakhstan. It contains detailed information about the social worker: personal data, education, information about advanced training, information about passing certification, work experience. The register will improve access to information about social workers and improve the quality of services provided.
