Fire in KBTU building extinguished in Almaty

The fire in the building of the Kazakh-British Technical University in Almaty has been successfully extinguished, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported .

“The fire has been localized. Extinguishing is being carried out by four combat areas. The process was complicated by the building’s structural features, high fire load and heavy smoke,” the statement said.

The fire in the KBTU building was recorded by the Ministry of Emergency Situations on January 11 at around 10:00 p.m. At first, information about the location of the incident was not specified; the object was called “one of the buildings.”

“An operational headquarters has been created at the site of the fire. The command center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan has been instructed to increase forces and resources to eliminate the fire. 78 rescuers and 28 units of equipment from the Almaty Department of Emergency Situations are working at the site,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted.
