A new mobile operator may appear in Kazakhstan
If the current telecom operators do not meet the needs of Kazakhstanis in terms of service quality and tariff levels, the Ministry of Digital Development will launch a new mobile operator on the market. This was stated by Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Askhat Orazbek, Kazinform reports .
Orazbek noted that the ministry hopes for a deal to sell Tele2 and Altel to a Qatari investor: this should increase competition among telecom operators.
"The deal has taken place, and we have high hopes for it, since we cannot regulate tariffs. We rely on the competition of three independent mobile operators. (Competition) will improve the quality of communication. We are sure that this will affect prices. Remember, when Tele2 entered the market, they sharply reduced tariffs, and Kcell and Beeline were forced to reduce prices on the market. We expect the same effect," the vice minister noted.
He said that within six months the new investor will sort out the current situation in the company and by the end of the year will begin to take steps to improve the market. "In two years we will be ready to bring a fourth operator to the market if the three current operators do not satisfy our citizens in terms of quality and tariffs," Orazbek added.
