KazNU graduate invited to study at Oxford
Arystanbek Akylbay, a young scientist from the Department of Chinese Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has been admitted to Oxford University as a recognized student. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiVO).
"From January 2025, he will study in the specialty of "Regional Studies" at the School of Global and Regional Studies at Oxford in the UK. Upon completion of his studies, Arystanbek will receive the status of an associate graduate of Oxford University," the statement said.
Earlier, Arystanbek was invited to the American Harvard and successfully completed the contract as a visiting research fellow. There, he conducted research on the topic of "The Evolution of Singapore's Statehood: Meritocracy and Modernization (Experience for Kazakhstan)".
The press service of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University also reported that Arystanbek’s path to science began at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, where he entered after graduating from School-Gymnasium No. 40 with the “Altyn Belgi” badge.
Having mastered the Chinese language, the Kazakhstani entered the Shanghai International Studies University on a full grant from the Chinese government. While studying in Shanghai, he studied not only China, but also the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, participated in events and conferences in South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. Having successfully defended his master's thesis, Arystanbek returned to Kazakhstan. In Astana, on a competitive basis, he got a job at the Ministry of Social Development, worked as an expert on international cooperation, and then as an expert in the Department of Coordination of Youth Policy of the Committee on Youth and Family Affairs of the Ministry of Social Development.
