On December 31, 2024, journalist Yuriy Butusov reported that the State Bureau of Investigation had opened a criminal case into the circumstances of the formation of the 155th separate mechanized brigade “Anna Kievskaya”, which entered the battle near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. He claims that before the brigade fired its first shot, 1,700 servicemen left it without permission.
The journalist also reported that the brigade was not supplied with the necessary weapons. In particular, the brigade did not receive a single drone from the state to carry out combat missions; only volunteers helped. According to Butusov, there was a complete lack of electronic warfare equipment, and the mortar shells were defective.
