The staff of guardianship authorities in Kazakhstan will be increased by 2.5 times to protect children's rights
In Kazakhstan, the number of specialists in guardianship agencies to protect children's rights will be increased by 2.5 times. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, KazTAG reports .
"Within the framework of the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on state awards, education and protection of children's rights adopted in December 2024, it is planned to increase the staff of guardianship and trusteeship authorities by 2.5 times. The decision is aimed at improving the protection of children's rights and strengthening the work of the guardianship system," the report says.
The new staffing standard — one specialist per 5,000 children — is enshrined in law. According to the new standards, the number of employees of district guardianship authorities has already been increased from 303 to 692 people. In 2025, the staffing level will be expanded even more to provide accessible assistance to children and their families.
"The new staffing norm is a unique experience for Kazakhstan, which meets international standards. Each specialist will now be able to work more effectively with children and their families, providing the necessary support," said Education Minister Gani Beisembayev.
The Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights, together with the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, are also developing methodological recommendations to improve the effective work of guardianship authorities at the local level.
