Since February 1, electricity tariffs have increased in Kazakhstan, but residents should have noticed changes in their bills only in March. This was reported by the Committee for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies. Since February 1, water tariffs have also changed. Nevertheless, Almaty residents are already reporting a sharp increase in utility bills.

Earlier, Vice Minister of National Economy Arman Kasenov stated that the increase in tariffs would be “minimal.” However, Almaty residents are complaining on social networks about a significant increase in bills.

"I received my bill today – I'm shocked! What will happen next? In December, I paid 6,200 tenge for cold water, and in February, it was already 15,400. There are five people in my apartment, at this rate we'll go broke on water," writes a resident of Almaty.

Other users also noted the increase in prices.

"We have a private house, and utility bills now reach 30,000 tenge with the Internet. This does not include expenses for coal and firewood. We used to pay a little more than a thousand for water, and now it's more than nine thousand," another city resident shares.
