Famous Kazakh writer and playwright Dulat Isabekov passed away at the age of 83, Ulysmedia.kz reports .

The poet Kasymkhan Begmanov reported the sad news:

"Oh, my dear aga Dulat, have you really left this world too? Literally ten or fifteen minutes ago, my younger brother Yestiyar Dulatuly, sobbing, told me this tragic news. I conveyed the sad news to the chairman of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan Mereke Abdeshuly, colleagues and respected people. Now I am heading to my brother's house… Yes, the Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan, a classic of Kazakh literature, writer and playwright Dulat Isabekov has passed away. I express my deep condolences to the Kazakh people," he wrote.

Dulat Isabekov was born on February 20, 1942 in the Sairam district of the South Kazakhstan region. He was one of the most prominent representatives of Kazakh literature, whose works deeply reflected the life, everyday life and destiny of the people.

In 1966 he graduated from the philological faculty of the Kazakh State University named after S. M. Kirov (now the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University).

Throughout his career, Isabekov held important positions in the field of culture and literature:

• He worked as a senior editor of literary and dramatic broadcasting on Kazakh Radio;
• He was a senior scientific editor in the Main Editorial Board of the Kazakh Soviet Encyclopedia;
• He headed a department in the magazine “Zhuldyz” and the publishing house “Zhalyn”;
• He worked as the editor-in-chief of the repertoire and editorial board of the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan;
• He headed Kazakh television and the publishing house "Zhazushy";
• He headed the Kazakh Research Institute of Culture and Art Studies.

Dulat Isabekov was a master of depicting the Kazakh village, its traditions and way of life. He wrote about eternal values – love, respect for elders, continuity of generations. His works are distinguished by deep authenticity, conveying the realities of the Kazakh people.

The author of more than 20 plays, Isabekov has achieved recognition not only in Kazakhstan but also beyond its borders. His productions have been staged in CIS theaters, and one of his plays was staged in London. In 2015, the presentation of his book “You Didn’t Know Warriors” took place there.

In 2017, to mark the writer’s 75th anniversary, two collections were published in English: “Short Stories” and “Song of the Swans: Selection of Plays ” . As part of the Kazakh Culture Festival in London, Isabekov’s play “Zhauzhurek” was presented by the Mukhtar Auezov State Academic Drama Theatre, and the play “Akku Zhibek” was performed by British actors in English for the first time.

It should be noted that Isabekov is the only Kazakhstani writer whose works are stored in the National Library of Great Britain.
