A girl died in Aktau: The main suspect received a life sentence
On January 31, the appeal process in the case of fitness trainer Alina Serikova, who was kidnapped and raped by five men, ended in Aktau. The publication Lada.kz reports that the defendants received new sentences.
Thus, the main defendant in the criminal case, Nurgeldy Seitkaliev, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Another defendant, Yerkebulan Amankos, was given 16 years, and Aralbay Merey, Zhalgas Usengaliyev and Darkhan Kulbas received 13 years in prison. In addition, the court ordered the defendants to pay the victims more than 19 million tenge in material compensation and 30 million tenge for moral damages.
It is noted that for the first time in all the appeal hearings, the parents of the deceased Alina Serikova were allowed to be present. After the decision was announced, the girl's family and those who came to support them burst into tears.
Let us recall that in Aktau, five men attacked a girl who was returning home – they beat her, pushed her into a car, forced her to take drugs, raped her, took out a loan in her name and forcibly kept her in the car all night until they found a way to withdraw money.
Three days later, the girl died after jumping out of a high-rise window.
Details of the incident were published by the NeMolchiKZ foundation in January 2025. According to representatives of the organization, the prosecutor asked the court to sentence the main defendant in the case to life imprisonment, and the other four to 15-16 years in prison.
But during the trial, the judge reclassified the charges, explaining his decision by the fact that the girl died as a result of suicide, and not as a result of the previous actions of five men.
Following the foundation’s statement, the Mangistau regional prosecutor’s office announced that it insists on tougher punishment for those found guilty.
