Famous mural painted over again in Almaty

Instead of a mural depicting a character from the cartoon "Kitten Named Gav", a new one on the theme of smog appeared in Almaty. It was painted by the artist Pasha Kas, but they started painting over the mural on the same day.

On Sunday, March 2, the inscription "You painted over the kitten, and when will you paint over the smog in the city?" appeared on the wall. The artist published photos of it on Instagram. However, they began to paint over the new work. After the previous mural was painted over, the Akimat reported that they were negotiating with the artist about creating a new work.

"I was invited to a dialogue on the wall, and I decided to ask a question: gray streets, gray smog over the city, gray walls, anthill-like multi-story buildings… Are the city authorities really busy solving important problems?" Pasha Kas wrote in a publication about the new work.

The image of the main character of the cartoon "Kitten Named Gav", created by artist Pasha Kas eight years ago, was painted over by order of the city authorities in mid-January. They explained this by the need to repair the facade of the building on which the character was painted.

The destruction of the mural outraged its author, as well as many Almaty residents.
