Forced into marriage: Police detain suspect in molestation of 15-year-old girl
Police have detained a suspect to whom her stepfather "married" a 15-year-old schoolgirl in the Karaganda region. This was reported by the press service of the regional police department. The man is currently in a temporary detention facility.
"A 38-year-old man suspected of committing a crime against a 15-year-old girl has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The police received a statement on March 15, after which a criminal case was immediately opened. As part of the investigation, the necessary forensic examinations are being conducted to establish all the circumstances of the incident," the regional police department said in a statement.
Psychologists are working with the minor victim, law enforcement officials added.

The Commissioner for Children's Rights of the Karaganda Region, Irina Kiseleva, reported that she is in touch with the girl's father and law enforcement agencies. She also said that she had applied regarding the criminal prosecution of the stepfather and mother for the fact of their illegal actions.
Earlier it was reported that in the Karaganda region a stepfather "married" a 15-year-old girl to a 38-year-old man. Later, the Ministry of Education responded to the incident and reported that the girl is now with her biological father.
