The road from Kaskelen to Almaty will become eight-lane

The highway between Kaskelen and Almaty is planned to be expanded to eight lanes with the installation of five U-turn interchanges. This was announced by Transport Minister Marat Karabayev during a working visit to Almaty. The project is being implemented within the framework of the President's instruction on the development of the Almaty agglomeration.

"The work will be carried out in two stages. The first stage will cover the section from BAKAD to the Kaskelen overpass, the second – from the Kaskelen overpass to the turnoff to the village of Aitey. Design work has begun," the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan said in a statement.

The expansion of the highway should improve transport connections and reduce travel time. The capacity of the road will increase from 60 to 90 thousand cars per day, which will reduce congestion on the highway.

In addition, to ensure traffic safety, it is planned to build 12 overground pedestrian crossings, which will make the road convenient for both motorists and pedestrians.
