Xi Jinping May Attend Victory Parade in Moscow
Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to come to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9. This was announced by Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel, DW reports .
According to the diplomat, the Chinese leader accepted the invitation to come to Moscow and also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to China for celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan and the end of World War II.
Beijing has not yet provided any official comments on Xi Jinping's possible visit to Russia.
The last time Xi Jinping visited Moscow was in March 2023, amid Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons in a war against Ukraine. And the last time he attended the Victory Parade in Moscow was in 2015.
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva also plan to attend the Victory Parade in Moscow in 2025.
In addition, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin that he plans to fly to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, RIA Novosti reported .
"I would like to take this opportunity to convey greetings and words of respect to Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. I hope to meet during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. I accepted the invitation with great pleasure," Tokayev said.
