On February 17, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) oil pumping station, the Kropotkinskaya pumping station, was attacked by a drone. The consortium itself officially reported this. Let us recall that about 75% of Kazakhstan's oil is exported through it. The section of the pipeline located in the Russian Federation in the Krasnodar Territory was attacked.

"The terrorist attack was carried out by seven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), filled with metal striking elements in addition to explosives. The attack was carried out at a time interval, with the aim of disrupting the operation of the facility and causing casualties among the operational personnel of the station," the statement on the KTK website says .

There are no official statements yet about who carried out the attack. Oil transportation continues in reduced modes, bypassing the damaged station.

There are no casualties, and no threat of an oil spill has been recorded. A management team led by CPC CEO Nikolai Gorban arrived at the site to assess the damage and the timeframe for restoring the station's operation. The Kropotkinskaya NPS has now been decommissioned, the CPC press service added.

The Kazakh Ministry of Energy reported that CPC accepts Kazakh oil without restrictions.

“There are no restrictions for Kazakh oil from CPC, and it is being received in a normal mode,” the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.

"If such strikes continue, infrastructure could be damaged further and recovery could be delayed. It also threatens the safety of personnel and increases the cost of protecting facilities. Another risk is political tension, especially for international shareholders, which could impact the oil market," the report says.
